Grzegorz Jankowicz, PhD

Ph.D. (Jagiellonian University, Tygodnik Powszechny, Korporacja Ha!art) – philosopher of literature, critic, editor and translator. He cooperates with the Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the Jagiellonian University. Jankowicz has translated into Polish the work of such authors as R. Firbank, G. Perec, R. Rorty and S. Žižek. A co-host of TV shows broadcast by TV Kultura, including Czytelnia and Poezjem. He was an editor of the critical literary series Punkt Krytyczny and the Studium magazine. He has taught Polish literature at Indiana University in Bloomington, USA. Jankowicz collaborates with the Korporacja Ha! Art Foundation as Deputy President and Editor of two publishing series: Linia krytyczna and Proza obca. A jury member for the SILESIUS Wrocław Poetry Award. Editor of Tygodnik Powszechny's cultural section. He is the executive director of Conrad Festival, Copernicus Festival, and Anamneses Festival. He edit, co-edit and wrote nine books, as well as more than 200 literary essays, articles and reviews. The most recent of his publications include: Cmono (conversations with international writers, 2013), What is art for? (conversations with Polish writers on literature and art), Gombrowicz - Loading. An Essay on the Form of Life (2014). His intrests cover contemporary theories and strategies of criticism, philosophical and political aspects of literature, as well as relationship between literature and visual arts.
