Admissions

 

The admissions limit in the academic year 2018/2019 is 25 persons. In the case of a higher number of applications than the set limit, admissions will be determined by the order of applications.

There are five admission periods for the candidates to submit their applications. Please visit www.erk.uj.edu.pl for detailed information.

In each case registration must be followed with admission fee. Successful registration will be confirmed by Jagiellonian University in 12 days after each registration period ends.

After the candidate is informed about the positive decision, he or she is required to enrol for the studies (by sending all documents required upon enrollment) and pay the fee. The documents should be sent to the address of the Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities:

Registration must be followed with the admission fee in amount of 75 PLN / 18 EURO / 20 USD.

 

ADMISSION REGULATIONS

 

Both Polish citizens and foreigners may apply for admission to the MA studies in English.

The ranking list will be drafted on the basis of the order of applications determined by the date of sending in the required documents (according to the date on the postal stamp), in keeping with the schedule of registrations for studies.

All candidates in order to confirm their registration are required to submit the following documents:

  • scanned copy of the application form printed from the individual OAS account and signed by the candidate,
  • scanned copy of higher education diploma, entitling its holder to undertake second-cycle programmes, or—if the candidate does not have the document yet upon registration—scanned copy of certificate issued by the granting institution, confirming passing the final examination (diploma examination), including information on their final examination grade, diploma dissertation grade, final diploma grade, and grade average calculated in accordance with the granting institution regulations, and on holder's eligibility to apply for second-cycle programmes in the country of issue,
  • scanned copy of the supplement to the higher education diploma, or of the official transcript of records, or—if the candidate does not have the document yet upon registration—scanned copy of student’s record book (indeks), or other document including a full list of courses completed and grades received,
  • scanned copy of candidate's ID card, or of their passport photograph page,
  • scanned copy of motivation letter,
  • reference letter by a research fellow holding at least degree of Doktor (to be delivered by regular post to the address of the unit responsible for the application process that can be found in the study programme card in the "contact" tab),
  • scanned copy of Curriculum Vitae (résumé) in the Europass format, available at: http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/documents/curriculum-vitae,
  • certified translation into English or Polish of all submitted documents issued in a language other than English or Polish.

 

Candidates who hold higher education diploma obtained outside Poland are required to submit additionally the following documents:

  • higher education diploma obtained outside of Poland is required to be authenticated with apostille or legalised.

 

Documents required upon enrolment

All candidates are required to submit the following documents:

  • the original application form printed from the individual OAS account and signed by the candidate, as sent scanned upon registration,
  • photocopy of higher education diploma, or—if the candidate does not have the document yet upon enrolment—certificate issued by the granting institution, confirming passing the final examination (diploma examination), including information on their final examination grade, diploma dissertation grade, final diploma grade, and grade average calculated in accordance with the granting institution regulations, and on holder's eligibility to apply for second-cycle programmes in the country of issue, together with candidate's written declaration to submit the photocopy of the document (together with the original document available upon request) by given deadline—under the pain of board denying admission,
  • photocopy of the supplement to the higher education diploma, or of the official transcript of records, or—if the candidate does not have the document yet upon enrolment—candidate's written declaration to submit the photocopy of the document (together with the original document available upon request) by given deadline—under the pain of board denying admission,
  • photocopy of document certifying candidate's command of the study programme language of instruction (foreign language)—does not apply to native speakers and to candidates who completed secondary school programme with that languages as language of instruction—or a document issued by the university unit responsible for the study programme certifying that candidate's command of language is sufficient for undertaking studies,
  • photograph (35 mm x 45 mm) taken without head covering, against light background, unless candidate holds the JU Electronic Student Identity Card,
  • photocopy of candidate's ID card, or of their passport photograph page (together with the original document available upon request),
  • certified translation into English or Polish of all submitted documents issued in a language other than English or Polish,
  • for enrolment by post: declaration of submission of original copies of all documents required upon enrolment for inspection by no later than 28 September 2018—under the pain of board denying admission.

 

  • Candidates who hold higher education diploma obtained outside Polandare required to submit additionally the following documents:
  • higher education diploma obtained outside of Poland is required to be authenticated with apostille or legalised.

 

  • Candidates who do not hold Polish citizenshipare required to submit  additionally the following documents:
  • photocopy of document certifying candidate's possesion of health insurance or casualty insurance for the period of studying in Poland, or photocopy of the European Health Insurance Card (together with the original document available upon request), or declaration of taking out the insurance in the National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia) immediately upon beginning of the first semester—in case of enrolling by post, written declaration to submit this document by no later than 28 September 2018 has to be enclosed to the set of documents submitted for enrolment—under the pain of board denying admission,
  • photocopy of medical certificate confirming lack of health conditions disqualifying the candidate from undertaking study programme (together with the original document available upon request—or, if the candidate does not have this document yet upon enrolment, or in case of enrolling by post, written declaration to submit this document by no later than 28 September 2018 has to be enclosed to the set of documents submitted for enrolment—under the pain of board denying admission. 

 

Documents required upon arrival

 

All accepted candidates must submit the following documents for verification:

  1. Original or an official copy of the diploma of higher education completed on the undergraduate (first-cycle) or graduate (long- or second-cycle) level together with its supplement *

* In case the applicant does not have one - a certificate issued by the granting institution that confirms passing the diploma examination and contains diploma examination grade, diploma dissertation grade, the final grade on the diploma as well as the applicant's written declaration to submit the original or an official copy of the diploma by a given deadline or otherwise the applicant will not be admitted

  1. Medical certificate that confirms the lack of health conditions disqualifying the applicant from undertaking study programmes
  2. Photocopies of documents (with the originals available upon request) that certify the applicant's legal stay in the territory of Poland, i.e. visa or a temporary/permanent residence permit or other document that allows for stay in the Republic of Poland
  3. Photocopies of documents (with the originals available upon request) that certify the applicant's possession of health insurance or casualty insurance for the period of studying in Poland*

* The European Health Insurance Card, or a declaration of taking out the insurance in the National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia) immediately upon enrolment

  1. Passport
  2. Proof of nostrification of higher education diploma issued by the board of the organization unit of the higher education institution in Poland, authorized to entitle academic title of doctor in the given domain of science or art or disciplines of science and art related to the field of study that was granted by the higher education diploma obtained abroad, or the applicant's written declaration to nostrify the higher education diploma by the end of the first semester under the condition of withdrawal from the University *

* it considers the applicants – holders of the higher education diploma obtained abroad, issued by the institution outside the education system of the European Union countries, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) or a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or the country with which Poland has signed an agreement on mutual recognition of education

  1. Higher education diplomas obtained outside the territory of Poland have to be authenticated with apostille *

* If issued in the state that is a party to the Hague Convention from 5 October 1961 or legalized.

Sworn translation into Polish of all the submitted documents is required if they were issued in language other than English or Polish.
